The Ditto Trail

In 2021, David Hardie spent many weeks in intensive care followed by a long recovery during the Covid lockdown. To keep himself busy, he carved a house for Dittos, the magical creatures he had told stories about when his son and nieces were young.

By the time lockdown ended, David had created nearly 30 miniature houses and decided to use them to make a unique trail around his home town of Dawlish.

Word soon spread and local volunteers and businesses helped David create The Ditto Trail. Today there are over 70 Ditto Houses waiting to be discovered around Dawlish and FREE maps are available in local shops or can be downloaded from this page.

Working with his sister, Diana Townsend, David has developed the magical stories he once told into the award-winning book series The Dittos of Dawlish.
